lyrics

This Year will be the Twenty Twelve that John Cusack Tried to Warn Us about.

There will be no left and right only forward and down.

there will be tiny houses and no one left to live in them.

there will be strong winds and batteries charging

there will be bright lights and dancing retinal patterns

shoppers frozen in their seats by the gravity of the tail spin

there will be bottomless hurricanes to hold us all tightly

mislaid placards washed up on tropical beaches

and meaningless borderlands as far as the eye can see

there will be 200 storey buildings resting gently on their sides

ladders melting from mountains

whips of thin air and salt.

tiny machines processing sea water into secret oils

there will be an inadequate history that no one can read or tell

there will be amnesia and speculation

treasure buried in tiny snatches of remaining code

there will be contemporary relics crushed under heavenly wheels of dirt

stores of radiant concrete rising from the sea floors

high speed mutation with great loss and wonder

there will be everything for sale but nothing worth keeping and no hands to hold it.

There will be swirling ashes in the morning light and you know of a blanket in a tent somewhere, there is a body you will press yourself too and they will be so pleased to see you and the moment before you fall asleep you will thank each thing that has brought you to this happy place.
